Healthcare billing is one of the most emotionally charged experiences a person can have. You receive good care, feel relieved, then the bill arrives and everything that felt positive starts to unravel. Confusion about what you owe, embarrassment about what you can afford, stacks of paper with no clear path forward. For many patients, that moment undoes everything that came before it.
VisitPay built a platform that changes that. Developed alongside major health systems, it gives patients a single place to see what they owe, understand their options, and set up payment plans on their own terms, without the discomfort of negotiating over the phone or the anxiety of being surprised by a due date. Most people want to pay their bills. They just need to be given a real way to do it.
The brief was to introduce this platform to a broad consumer audience, many of whom had never encountered a healthcare payment experience that felt designed with them in mind. Where competitors led with technology and product features, I made a different call: lead with the patient. The film opens with a simple truth that everyone recognizes, follows real voices through the frustration and relief of the experience, and closes with an unsolicited testimonial from someone who genuinely wanted to say thank you.
That emotional arc was the strategy. When a financial product makes someone feel respected rather than burdened, they notice. And they tell people.
